This house has had many strange things happen to manner different people. We spoke with some of the people that have lived in the house, here are some of their stories which were related to us:

Strange Mist

Early in February 1996 I was living at the house (my father-in-law owned it). My daughter was not quite 2 years old at the time. At around 2:00 AM, I went downstairs to get my daughter some medicine since she was running a fever (she had been sick with ear infections most of that winter). As I started walking down the stairs, I noticed a mist that was in the general shape of a person at the very bottom of the stairs. It did not seem to reach the floor and it was less than 6 feet in height. I froze on the stairs and watched it for which seemed to me a long time, but it was probably a minute or so. I recall thinking that I needed to go downstairs and get what I needed. So, after a long pause I started walking down the stairs again. As I got closer to the bottom, the mist slowly dissipated.  It was completely gone by the time I got to the bottom. I tried to come up with a logical solution (e.g. car headlights reflecting, etc) but there was none.  The strangest part  was how the mist slowly dissipated, not as if a light had been turned off.

Man in the Black Hat

A family friend was staying in the bedroom near the bottom of the stairs - not far from where the mist was sighted. She woke up to what she claimed to be a man in a black hat sitting at the end of her bed. It vanished after she sat up.

Pounding 
II was staying at the house with my husband while we were visiting from out of town. We were sleeping in one of the bedrooms on the upper floor (middle of the house, not near the stairs). We were the only people in the house at the time. We awoke to a pounding on the bedroom door. It was as if someone was trying to break the door down - definitely not a gentle rapping. We jumped out of bed and I sent my husband to search the house. Since we were both scared, we called the police, thinking that someone had broken into the house. We went downstairs to see what was happening and to open the door for the police and realized that all the doors were locked and all the windows were closed with the screens in place. There was no one else in the house. The police did not find anything unusual.

Other Observations

• Multiple people have felt like they were being watched while in the laundry room in the basement – it is not a consistent feeling only on occasion.
• While sitting in the living room, one can sometime hear noises as if someone (child) is running through an upstairs bedroom. The sound are not heard while upstairs.
• While sleeping in the downstairs bedroom (the same bedroom as the man in the black hat) people have reported pounding and walking in the walls. No signs of animals have been found

The house is one of the oldest in the area. It was the farm house for the farm that was turned into a suburb. Although  there have been many owners, the current owner has been in possession for more than 30 years. There is no information available as to any deaths/tragedies at the residence. Although It is known that at least three marriages have ended at the house.
