There are a number of items that may be of assistance if you feel that you have paranormal activity in your home, place of business, etc.

Ask For Help

  • You are not alone. If you feel that there that there is paranormal activity affecting you, do not keep it to yourself. Talk to a friend, family member, a religious figure or even a counselor. If you feel that you do not want to talk to someone that you know, there are a number of paranormal groups that will talk with you (including GLPARS). Sometimes contacting a paranormal group can help validate your experiences. It is thought that some entities want you to feel alone. Sometimes sharing experiences can make it seem less frightening.

Remember: Not Everything Is Paranormal

  • Sometimes incidents that seem paranormal have natural or mechanical explanations. We have experienced strange noises during investigations that turned out to be running toilets, birds, sump pumps and even furnaces. We have seen shadows moving across a room that turned out to be reflections of vehicles on another street that were being reflected by nearby buildings. GLPARS always looks for non-paranormal explanations before considering paranormal ones.
  • If are experiencing something strange, try to determine if something natural/mechanical could have caused it. What appliances were running? If it happens frequently, does it happen at the same time? or with the same frequency? Does your furnace need a new fan belt? If you are experiencing strange noises at night, try to determine if these noises also happen during the day. Perhaps this sounds happen all the time, but are only noticed at night when it is quiet.

Have GLPARS Check It Out

  • If you have possible paranormal activity going on, contact GLPARS. GLPARS will investigate and look for explanations. GLPARS may be able to explain the issue or they may be able to validate your suspicions.
  • You can check out locations yourself using recorders, cameras, etc. If you do, make sure that you are ready for what you may find - it is often better to have a third party involved that does not have an interest in the location.

It Is Your Home!

  • If you do have paranormal activity gong on in your home/business/etc remember that it is your home and you are the one that has the right to be there. Talk to the entities in a strong forceful way and tell them that it is your house, and they need to leave. Be forceful and use words like "you must leave" not "I'd like you to leave".
  • You can contact a religious or spiritual person to bless your house or to have the entities leave. Do not limit your religious options, consider other religions and spiritualists. A smudging from a Wicca practitioner may work as well as a blessing from a Catholic priest. Try to be open minded. Since we do not know where the entity comes from, they may react to different methods

Ouija Boards?

  • Some people want to use Ouija boards, spirit writing or other methods to contact entities. For most people, this is not recommended. These methods seem to open portals to the spirit world and most people are not ready for what may come through. If you choose to use these methods, be aware and prepare yourself.

Try to Remain Calm

  • It can be difficult, but try to remain calm when you have a paranormal experience. We know from experience how easy it is to over react to an incident. Panic can make it anything seem worse that it actually is. Think about it, a strange banging noise may be startling, but it is probably nothing that can hurt you.

Write It Down

  • If you have been experiencing paranormal events, record them. Get as much detail as possible. The details may be used to determine a non-paranormal explanation or may be able to help with and investigation. The more data available, the better the chance of getting an explanation.
